Project Based Learning
Each grade level completes two PBLs a school year. These PBLs are produced using the STEM Engineer Design Process. Below are a few of the many PBLs we have done over the years!
Kindergarten
Can we engineer and design a toy that uses motion?

How can we help farmers grow crops by extending their growing season?

First Grade
How can we create an instrument that will use sound to communicate over a distance that will help keep us safe on the school playground?

How can we create an environment that meets the needs of birds (Brown-Headed Nuthatch) in our local community?

Second Grade
How can we design a purpose-built community that includes pushes and pulls?

How can we help with the disappearance of honeybees?

Third Grade
Can we act as a solution for pollution for plants and animals in Georgia?

How can we create an indoor sustainable garden in the absence of green space?

Fourth Grade
Can we design and build a planetarium to expose our EC West family (students, parents, teachers, etc) to the solar system? How can we act as tour guides to show our knowledge of the solar system?

How can we create a simple machine that makes our daily lives easier at school?

Fifth Grade
How can we design a response plan/survival plan to help in the event of a natural disaster?

How can we safely make our community more energy efficient?
