The S in MIST!
STEM Teacher
Hello everyone!! I am Valerie McMahon, the STEM Teacher here at Evoline C. West!
I’m a very proud mother of three wonderful children and I’m married to my best friend! I love the Lord and love helping others any way I can! My passion is edifying children of reaching their full potential and being The best they can be! I also enjoy enlightening them and helping them to establish their self worth. I truly believe every child can be taught and has a voice they can use to impact and make a difference in the world. I started my educational career here at E.C. West in 2006 as a parent volunteer and classroom mom. I then became a paraprofessional for 3rd grade for a year and kindergarten for the next two years. I went back to school to get my Masters in Education and became a teacher. I’ve taught PreK, 1st, and 3rd grade at E.C. West. Because of my love for science, I pursued and received my science endorsement and became Project Wet certified. As the STEM Teacher, I work collaboratively with classroom teachers in the STEM Lab. During the homeroom classes' assigned STEM Lab times, I co-teach with the classroom teachers to expose students to the Engineering Design Process, conduct labs associated with grade level PBLs and teach math and science standards with hands-on/real-word/critical thinking activities/tasks. |
